Jeff - I bought my Savage used so I never got to see how they come from the factory --- until a couple of days ago. I was at my friendly Suzuki dealership and they had a new Savage on the floor and I noticed that the speedo cable was routed over the backstrap and frame tube to the right and under the right edge of the tank directly down to the drive. Mine is routed between the rails in front of the carb, it works ok but next time my tank comes off I may follow the factory lead here.
